Stitch Your Dog

Draft: final wording to be checked before ads run

Privacy Policy

This page explains what information Stitch Your Dog collects and how it is used.

What we collect

Your name and email address when you join, a mailing address if you order printed sheets or the kit, the photo of your dog you upload to make your pattern, your course progress and lesson notes, any photo of your finished piece you choose to add, and basic information about how the site is used. Card payments are handled by our payment processor; your card details are never stored on this site.

How we use it

To give you access to your lessons, make your personal pattern, keep your progress and notes so they follow you to any device you sign in on, mail anything you ordered, answer your questions and send emails about your purchase (your welcome email, your sign-in codes, and a note when your pattern is ready). Your dog’s photo is used only to make your pattern.

Signing in

You sign in with a 6-digit code we email you, so there’s no password to store. Our sign-in provider sends the code and keeps track of your sign-ins (your email address, and the device and network address each sign-in came from), only to keep your account secure. Signing in sets a cookie that keeps you signed in on that device for up to a year, or until you sign out. It’s used only for your access to the course.

Your photos, and how long we keep them

When you upload a photo, we remove its location and camera details before we store it.

Your dog’s photo is kept in two places while your pattern is made. On our course server, we keep it for 90 days after your pattern is ready (or after we’ve told you a photo didn’t work), in case it needs a fix or a remake, and then delete it automatically. If a pattern needs finishing by hand, we keep the photo until it’s done, then for the same 90 days. The computer that turns it into a pattern keeps its working copy for no more than 14 days, then deletes it. A photo you upload but don’t use is deleted within a few hours. Your finished pattern stays in your account.

A photo of your finished piece stays until you delete it (you can, any time, from your course). It’s only shown to other students if you chose to share it and we’ve approved it, and it stops being shown if your access to the course ends.

Waitlists

If you join a waitlist for a course that isn’t open yet (like Stitch Your Cat), we keep your first name, your email address, the page you joined from and when, only so we can tell you when it opens. We don’t add you to anything else. To be taken off, email hello@stitchyourdog.com.

Advertising

We don’t run advertising trackers on this site yet. If we add them, this section will name them and explain how to opt out before they go live.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of your data, or for it to be deleted, at any time by emailing hello@stitchyourdog.com.
